To The Attention Of Our International Students_COVID-19

Dear International Students Of Izmir Institute Of Technology,

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak a decision of Closure of the Universities for 3 weeks starting from 16.03.2020, Monday, was announced by the Spokesman of the Presidency of Turkey. So, education in our Campus will be on break from 16.03.2020 to 06.04.2020.

All our students have the right to leave the campus and to return to their homes in this period. However, out of concern for the safety and health of our students and staff, we strongly recommend everyone not to leave the country.

We would like to inform you that, with the current situation and in line of the advise of the Ministry of Health, our Institution is taking every protective measure against the spread of the virus. This includes cancelling all international activities and also asking our students and staff to self-isolate themselves for 14 days before entering the campus if they have recently returned from abroad.

We would like to also remind you that COVID-19 is a global threat and health concerns are escalating due to its rapid spread. Therefore, please be aware that once you leave the country, we cannot guarantee your entrance to Turkey in your return.

Even if the situation is worrisome, we are asking you not to panic and stay calm as Turkish Authorities and our University Rectorate is taking all precautions necessary. Nevertheless, if you face any problems during this period of time, you can always ask help from our International Office (io-student@iyte.edu.tr), our Student Office (oidb@iyte.edu.tr) and from our Rectorate (rektorluk@iyte.edu.tr) as well.
