2025 ERASMUS (+) KA 171 STUDENT LEARNING MOBILITY APPLICATION ANNOUNCEMENT (UNIVERSITY OF TABRIZ)

Students registered to the Doctoral Programs of the Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Molecular Biology and Genetics who wish to study at University of Tabriz in Iran within the scope of Erasmus (+) KA 171 Student Mobility in the fall or spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year will apply ONLINE between May 30, 2025 and June 16, 2025 (until 11:30). The online application form will be active on May 30, 2025. There is 1 quota for studying at University of Tabriz in Iran. 1 quota is open to students registered in the doctoral programs of the Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Molecular Biology and Genetics Departments. The students can apply for the University of Tabriz quota for fall or spring semester. As of May 30, 2025, you can access the application screen via the My Applications Menu after entering the system via E-Government by clicking on the address ” http://turnaportal.ua.gov.tr ” . Applications will not be possible after 11:30 on June 16, 2025.

The program’s implementer in our country is the EU Education and Youth Programs Center (National Agency). The information on our website has been compiled from the “2023 Handbook for Higher Education Institutions”. The information on our website may be updated depending on the statements from the National Agency.

Erasmus (+) KA 171 Learning Mobility

Eramus (+) KA 171 Learning Mobility activity is carried out within the framework of inter-institutional agreements between the higher education institution holding the ECHE and the Third Countries not associated with the Programme. The activity consists of the student registered in the higher education institution completing a part of his/her education in a higher education institution abroad with which it is a partner through an inter-institutional agreement. The duration of the activity can be between 2 and 12 months (1, 2 or 3 terms according to the systems of some countries) for each level of education separately. Level of education refers to undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels.

Important note: According to the program rules, only staff and doctoral students can go to the underlined countries above with a grant. In other words, it is not possible to send associate, undergraduate and master students to these countries with a grant.

  1. Being a full-time student in formal education,
  2.  Our doctoral students must have a cumulative academic grade point average of at least 2.50/4.00,
  3.  If the student has benefited from higher education mobility activities (Erasmus +KA 131, Eramus + KA 171, Erasmus Mundus) with or without a grant during the 2014-2020 and/or 2021-2027 Erasmus+ periods within the current education level, the total duration, including the new activity, should not exceed 12 months,
  4.  Having a sufficient number of courses or non-course ECTS credit load. For doctoral students who do not have a course load, for example those who have moved on to the thesis period, a learning agreement can be arranged based on a non-course workload of 30 ECTS in an academic term.

Turkish or foreign doctoral students who meet the aforementioned application conditions can apply to the program

After the applications are received, they will be checked for eligibility. Invalid applications will be determined. Students who have invalid applications will be notified by e-mail (to the e-mail addresses on the application form) that their applications are invalid and the reason for the invalidity.

Our students who applied to the Erasmus + KA 171 Student Mobility Program in the 2025 Application Period can cancel their student mobility applications by DELETING them from the system till 16 June 2025 at 11:30. Applicants cannot cancel their applications from the system after the system is closed on 16 June 2025 at 11:30 till the announcement of the Final Results. Our students can only cancel their student applications after the announcement of the Final Results.

  1. Cumulative grade point average (cGPA) as of the last semester (as of the end of the 2024-2025 fall semester),
  2. English language skills (Student’s Erasmus Learning Mobility Point = Cumulative grade point average as of the last semester × 50% + English exam result × 50%)

Situations affecting the Erasmus Learning Mobility Point are as above:

  1. Previously benefitting from the Erasmus + KA 171 Program: -10 points (out of a total of 100 points) For each previously benefitted activity (regardless of whether Erasmus + KA 171 was used as an internship or a learning mobility, with or without a grant), a 10 point deduction is applied from the students’ Erasmus + KA 171 Learning Mobility Points. In case of previous benefit, the application of -10 points is not applied to mobilities carried out in the previous education level. It is applied if a student who has carried out Erasmus + KA 171 Mobility applies again for Erasmus + KA 171 Mobility within the same education level.
  2. Disabled students (provided that the disability is documented) will have 10 points added to their Erasmus Student Points. For prioritization, the student must submit the Disability Health Board report included in the “Regulation on Disability Assessment for Adults” published in the Official Gazette dated February 20, 2019 and numbered 30692. Our disabled students must upload a scanned copy of the APPROVED document regarding their disability status to the system. Students who upload an approved document to the system must submit the original of the relevant document to the International Relations Office within the application date range.
  3. In case of being a child of a martyr or a veteran (only for participants who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey and provided that the situation is documented*), 15 points will be added to our students’ Erasmus Learning Mobility Points. In addition to combat veterans and their spouses and children, spouses and children of war martyrs, spouses and children of “public officials who were injured, disabled, died or killed as a result of terrorist acts while performing their duties at home or abroad or while performing their duties even if their titles were revoked” according to Article 21 of the Law on Combating Terrorism No. 3713 dated 12/4/1991, and spouses and children of those who lost their lives due to the coup attempt and terrorist act carried out on 15 July 2016 and the acts that were a continuation of this act, or disabled civilians and spouses and children of these persons will be given priority in their application for Erasmus+ learning mobility. *If there is a child of a martyr or veteran, a scanned copy of the APPROVED document regarding these situations must be uploaded to the system. Students who upload an approved document to the system must submit the original of the relevant document to the International Relations Office within the application deadline.
  4. A 10 point deduction will be applied to the Erasmus + KA 171 Learning Mobility Points of the students who will participate in the mobility in their country of citizenship.
  5. Students who have been given protection, care or shelter decisions within the scope of the Social Services Law No. 2828 and the Child Protection Law No. 5395 will have 10 points added to their Erasmus Learning Mobility Points (provided that the situation is documented). Students in this situation must submit a letter from the Ministry of Family and Social Policies stating that there is a protection, care or shelter decision regarding them pursuant to Law No. 2828 for prioritization (prioritization: 10 points added). A scanned copy of the APPROVED document regarding the situation must be uploaded to the system. Students who upload an approved document to the system must submit the original of the relevant document to the International Relations Office within the application date range.
  6. Those who receive disaster victim aid from AFAD or their first degree relatives. 10 points will be added to our students’ Erasmus Learning Mobility Points. Students who receive disaster victim aid from AFAD or their first degree relatives must upload a scanned copy of the APPROVED document or a barcoded E-Government printout to the system. Students who upload an approved document to the system must submit the original of the relevant document to the International Relations Office within the application deadline.
  7. For students selected for mobility: Students who do not attend the meetings/trainings organized by the higher education institution regarding Erasmus + KA 171 mobility without an excuse (applicable if the student re-applies for Erasmus + KA 171 mobility) will have 5 points deducted from their Erasmus + KA 171 Learning Mobility Points.
  8. For students who were selected for Erasmus (+) KA 171 Learning or Internship Mobility in a previous selection period within the same education level, but did not carry out the activity without a compelling reason, 10 points will be deducted from their Erasmus (+) KA 171 Learning Mobility Points for each activity that was not carried out despite being entitled to do so.

Point deduction procedure for placements and withdrawals in the previous selection period:

Learning Mobility-Students Placed on the Main List;

If they notify the International Relations Office that they have given up on going abroad 10 days before the application deadline, no reduction will be applied to their Erasmus Learning Mobility Points (0 Points).

If they notify the International Relations Office that they give up on going abroad less than 10 days before the application deadline and the reason for their withdrawal is not a compelling reason, a 10 point reduction will be applied to their Erasmus Learning Mobility Points (-10 Points).

If they notify the International Relations Office that they give up on going abroad less than 10 days before the application deadline and the reason for their withdrawal is a compelling reason, no reduction will be applied to their Erasmus Learning Mobility (0 Points).

Learning Mobility-In case of quota entitlement for students on the reserve list;

If they notify the International Relations Office that they have given up on going abroad 3 days before the application deadline, no reduction will be applied to their Erasmus Learning Mobility Points (0 Points).

If they notify the International Relations Office that they give up on going abroad less than 3 days before the application deadline and the reason for their withdrawal is not a compelling reason, a 10 point reduction will be applied to their Erasmus Learning Mobility Points (-10 Points).

If they notify the International Relations Office that they give up on going abroad less than 3 days before the application deadline and the reason for their withdrawal is a compelling reason (illness, etc.), no reduction will be applied to their Erasmus Learning Mobility Points (0 Points).

  1. If the student declares that he/she will take the English language exam to be held by YDYO for Erasmus + KA 171 mobility and does not take it without an excuse, 10 points will be deducted from the Erasmus (+) KA 171 Learning Points in the student’s subsequent Erasmus + KA 171 mobility applications.

Applicants will be directed to the Erasmus English Exam, which will be organized by our School of Foreign Languages. The announcement regarding the Erasmus English Exam (Place, Date, Session Information) will be made in the coming days.

Students who took the Erasmus English exam (made for Erasmus + KA 131 students) held by IZTECH School of Foreign Languages on April 19, 2024 or April 11, 2025 can also take the Erasmus English Exam that will be held by our School of Foreign Languages after the application system is closed. The announcement regarding the Erasmus English Exam (Place, Date, Session Information) will be made in the coming days. The highest grade received by student who took Erasmus English exams will be taken into account. The English Exam Cut-Off Grade for both exams is 50/100 for the Erasmus + KA 171 Learning Mobility Program. In order to be evaluated on the placement list, it is necessary to have an English Exam Result of at least 50/100 .

  1. Before applying, students are required to do research on University of Tabriz (grading system, educational plan of the relevant program at the university, courses to be opened in the relevant semester at the host institution, etc.). The said research can be done on the relevant institutions’ websites.
  2. Graduate students who are registered for a thesis course at IZTECH or who are required to be registered for a thesis course at IZTECH during the period they will study abroad under Erasmus (+) KA 171 Learning Mobility, can have the courses, projects or courses+projects they take at the host institution, counted towards the thesis and special studies courses they are required to be registered for at IZTECH during the relevant period, with the approval of the IZTECH Erasmus Departmental Coordinator, Department Head and the Administrative Board of IZTECH Graduate School.
  3. Our graduate students who want to study abroad within the scope of Erasmus (+) KA 171 Learning Mobility in their last semester at IZTECH must determine their thesis jury, take the thesis defense exam and submit their thesis to the IZTECH Graduate School within the dates specified in the academic calendar and fulfill all the conditions specified in the IZTECH Graduate School for their graduation. Otherwise, the severance clauses specified in the regulation will be applied.
  4. It will not be possible to change the semester preference in the online application form after the application deadline of June16, 2025.
  5. When making a choice in the online application form, a university should only be selected once. When making a choice in the online application form, the same university should not be selected twice for different semesters.

If it is determined that the information provided in the online application or the documents uploaded to the application do not reflect the truth, the student’s application will be cancelled.

Students studying in a double major can apply for the mobility from only one major during the same application period (between 30 May 2025 and 16 June 2025).

After the Central English Exam is conducted by IZTECH School of Foreign Languages, the Erasmus Learning Mobility Points of our PhD students will be calculated and the students will be ranked from the student with the highest total score to the student with the lowest. Since there is only 1 quota, the student with the highest Erasmus Learning Mobility Point will be entitled to study at the relevant university for one semester (fall or spring, depending on the student’s choice in the online application form) with a grant. The other students on the list will be in reserve status.

Erasmus (+) KA 171 Selection Results are announced on the International Relations Office’s (IRO) website. The selection results are sent to students’ IZTECH e-mail addresses at the same time. Our students have the right to object to their placement results. Our students must notify the International Relations Office of their objections in writing (sending an e-mail to erasmuskoordinator@iyte.edu.tr will be sufficient) no later than 3 calendar days after the Placement Results announcement is published

The grant amount allocated to our PhD student who has been selected to study at University of Tabriz in Iran within the scope of Erasmus (+) KA 171 Learning Mobility in the Fall or Spring Semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year:

Individual Support (Monthly)

700 Euro

Travel Support

275 Euro

*700 Euros per month will be paid during the relevant semester (fall or spring) of the host institution.

 

In case of using Green Travel, Travel Support will be 320 Euros.

Green travel is the use of low-carbon public transport vehicles for travel. Bus, train, and shared car use are included in the scope of green travel. In order for a student to receive green travel support, they must use green travel on their way out and return and use green vehicles for more than half of the entire trip.

Grant amounts are not intended to cover all of the students’ activity-related expenses; they are merely contributions.

If our selected student falls into the category of students with limited opportunities, and if IZTECH has enough grant, the student will receive an additional grant of 250 Euros per month in addition to the individual support and travel grant given.

Additional Grant Support

Students with limited means will be provided with Additional Grant Support in addition to the grant they are entitled to. In order for the grant to be awarded, a participant with limited means is defined as an individual with limited economic and social means and who fits into the following subcategories:

  • Those subject to Law No. 2828 (Those who have a protection, care or shelter decision issued by the Ministry of Family and Social Services in accordance with Law No. 2828)
  • Students for whom protection, care or shelter decisions have been made within the scope of the Child Protection Law No. 5395.
  • Those who do not have any other parental income but receive an orphan/death pension.
  • Children of martyrs/veterans* (Only for participants who are citizens of the Republic of Türkiye)
  • Those who are granted a monthly allowance to themselves or their family (it is sufficient for the student, their parents or their guardians to submit a document proving that they received financial support from municipalities, public institutions and organizations (Ministries, Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, General Directorate of Foundations, Red Crescent, AFAD etc.) at the time of applying for Erasmus.)
  • Disabled**
  • Those whose one parent or guardian receives a disability or needy pension within the scope of the Law No. 2022 dated 01.07.1976 on Granting Monthly Allowances to Needy, Weak and Destitute Turkish Citizens over the Age of 65 and to Disabled and Needy Turkish Citizens.
  • Those who or their first degree relatives received disaster victim aid from AFAD.

 

Higher Education Credit Institution’s scholarships and similar scholarships, other grants aids and scholarships in the nature of success scholarships, and one-time aids are not accepted within the scope of the financial aid in question.

Students who meet the above scope will be provided with an additional grant of 250 Euros per month upon request and provided that they document their situation. Additional grant support is only given to students who are eligible to receive grant support.

Additional categories may be applied retroactively, within the university’s grant capabilities.

Students who request Additional Grant Support and fall into the categories above must upload the relevant documents to the online application form.

The Erasmus+ KA 171 Programme encourages the participation of students who need Inclusion Support.

A student in need of Inclusion Support is a potential student whose personal physical, mental or health condition would not allow him/her to participate in the mobility activity without additional financial support. Once the student in need of Inclusion Support has been selected, if the student requests an additional grant, the approximate additional costs are determined and an additional grant is requested from the National Agency. The additional grant requested must be directly related to the purpose of enabling the student to participate in the activity.
